For a book, entitled Focus, I was disappointed by the book's lack of focus and a core message. Focus, describes three kinds of focus to drive us towards excellence: inner, outer and other and how balancing these are crucial. Inner awareness with mindfulness is a valuable point of the book as well as external awareness around our place within a system and how it affects other individuals and us. The book contained a lot of scattered research and other stories but failed to explain how to fully but the knowledge to use.

Motivations to Read

Focus is a skill that can be improved, and it's vital to success professionally and personally. Daniel Goleman has written extensively about emotional intelligence, which was a very impactful read for more and I hope to gain a similar level of insights from focus.

3 Reasons to Read

  • You want to improve your focus
  • Improve your ability to prioritize and be more self-aware
  • Learn from Goleman's attention research attention into: inner, other, and outer focus
