A great follow up to Collin's other book Good to Great. Well Researched! Not like those other business books that just speak from the gut or only local experience. Great by Choice looks at the fundamentals of successful companies and the individuals that lead them. The knowledge shared in this book can not only help you build a better company and understand them, but how you can build your own leadership skills. Successful companies have more choice in their success partly from their awareness on luck and how to manufacture more of it, capitalizing on the opportunity and minimizing risk to the company. They do a deep analysis of the business, execute many small experiments, re-evaluate, and are patient enough to wait for opportunities to fully take advantage of.
Another powerful question, Why do some companies thrive in uncertainty, even chaos, and others do not? If there is any absolute certainty it's that change is always going to happen and that you can't know everything. I am very interested to dive more into this area as well as learn about the traits of the leaders that guide these companies.
