I Celebrate the Journey

Juvoni Beckford

I’ve had a tendency to rarely celebrate, only execute and keep it moving.
It’s a side effect of growing up with little, having to scrape by not knowing what tomorrow would bring.
Being anchored to the past, prisoner to a scarcity mindset for so long, stuck in survival mode.
The grind can wear you down. Suffering internally and externally can make it seem like there is nothing to celebrate.
Yet, we have a choice.
I could have went down a very different path, than the one I’m on now.
It’s thanks to the abundant love and sacrifices of a strong mother.
The struggles, passion, self-discovery and potential of younger brother.
The eyes and heart of a vigilant family.
The compassion and support of wonderful friends.
The kindness of strangers.
The opportunity to grow and learn from each other.
I remember when I used to smile much less.
Now I smile for no reason and many reasons.
There’s a lot to be grateful for. I’ve come a long way. We’ve come a long way.
There is a lot of abundance in life if we’d open up ourselves to receive it and share it.
I celebrate the journey. I celebrate love and connections. I celebrate learning and growth.
I celebrate the freedom to keep smiling in the face of everything 🙂
