I Hated Reading for 20 Years

I hated reading for the first 20 years of my life.
For the next 10, reading became the thing that changed my life.
Someone could spend 8 years writing a book, and it would take 8 hours to read.
I could only read 3,000 books in my lifetime if I tried hard, but it would hardly scratch the surface of the 170,000,000 unique books in the world.
Reading is a fundamental part of the cycle of intelligence and progress necessary to understand the world, others, and ourselves.
↪ Thinking ⇄ Reading ⇄ Doing ⇄ Speaking ⇄ Listening ↩
Reading is a human experience as well a practice that can help build up your attention span and ability to focus.
If you don't know what to read, explore what you love. Read books on what you love so you can learn to read. Share what you love, so others who are similar can find their love sooner.
Read Non-fiction for mental models & perspectives on how the world has worked, currently works, and how you can create new works within it.
Read Fiction for emotional models on how to feel deeper within yourself and in relation to others.
The medium in which you read can have an impact as well.
Print: Books worth re-reading.
E-Book: Skimmable with expiring knowledge.
Audiobooks: Narrative-focused books: history, fiction, biographical.
Read books whose ideas can stand the test of time, because you have limited time on this earth to spend on an idea that disappears faster than you.
No matter how much you read.
Life is meant to be experienced.
It can't be experienced at one time, so use the opportunity to learn from the experiences of the past, and contribute your own experience.
Play the longest infinite game in humanity: Learning & Sharing.
